Three Materials You Need for a Great Poker Party

If you are planning to host a poker party, you may probably be stocking up on chips and good drinks. But if you really want a great night of poker, you may want to become more authentic and casino-like. Thus, you need the materials for a really glamorous poker party night.

You don't really need to have a large budget to buy the stuff listed below, as you can easily improvise. Here we will list the three things you need to have for an authentic and luxurious poker party, along with options for those who are on a budget.

1. Poker table

This green felt monster has a great feel of the real thing. With this, you can easily deal cards, lift cards, and be more comfortable than if you have a smooth dining table. Expensive ones will consume a lot of space, as they are really a 'table' with four legs.

If you don't have a lot of space, you can opt for the folding table. This has a similar feel to the other more expensive poker tables, but can easily be stored in a closet. Once you need it, you just have to put it on top of your own table.

If you cannot spare a few bucks or don't want to buy just a poker table, then you can use a good billiards table if you have one. If you don't, just look for green felt, as it is very inexpensive. Just drape it over your table, and voila, you get an improvised poker table.

2. Poker chips

Poker chips come in three materials: clay, metal, and plastic. If you just want to keep score, go for the plastic ones, as they are really cheap. If you want to impress people with poker chip tricks, opt for the metal. And if you are also buying chips for the purpose of collecting, buy the clay ones.

If you don't want to set aside money for poker chips, then you can easily improvise with household or office materials. Large paperclips are good, buttons are even better. Just don't expect everyone to be very happy about your budget-conscious way of hosting.

3. A fresh set of cards

This does not even need an explanation. If you are hosting a poker party, then at least have the decency to buy a fresh pack of cards. You cannot pass up this one and improvise, because that will look really, really cheap.

Remember, if you want a great night of poker, then it is better to have a good poker table, a set of poker chips to keep score, and of course, a fresh pack of cards. If you don't have a large budget, you could improvise. The only thing that you need to remember is whatever you buy, be sure that your friends and yourself will enjoy the poker party!
